Cycle Trainer
This is a qualification aimed at those training both children and adults in on-road cycling skills from the basics of learning to ride to cycling on busier roads. It incorporates the Cycle Skills Trainer qualification and covers instructor training. Those with the Cycle Skills qualification would be exempt from day 1 of the total 4 days. » Find out more

Forthcoming classes:
TCL 2 CT
The TCL to CT conversion course is aimed at TCLs who may also have an interest in or responsibility for training both adults and children in on-road cycling skills.
The course covers the basics of learning to ride through to the skills necessary on busier and more complex roads.
This 2-day conversion course builds on the skills of the TCL and orientates them to the basic skills and on-road training elements of Cycling Scotland’s 4-day Cycle Trainer Course.

Cycle Ride Leader
This is a one day course aimed at those who will be leading groups through a variety of rides on pre-planned risk assessed routes within their local area, usually as part of a larger project.
Such programmes are likely to be aimed at adult groups and the emphasis may be on those returning to cycling, those wanting to be more active, a health focus or merely to highlight the range of rides available locally.
Rides will be easy to moderate in terms of both physical and technical difficulty, with a range of rides suited to your client group available through your local project. » Find out more

Forthcoming classes:
Cycle Patrol
A 2 day course for staff who could make use of the bicycle to enhance their current patrol duties. Staff who may benefit from such training are Park Rangers/Wardens, path rangers and Countryside Rangers. The course can be designed to suit local requirements and is likely to cover both on-road and off-road riding skills. » Find out more

Making Cycling Mainstream
Making Cycling Mainstream is a set of 10 different workshops aimed principally at technical staff within local authorities and other agencies. These interactive courses will give staff useful skills ranging from developing travel plans to engaging with stakeholders to learning how to promote use of your cycling infrastructure. Cycle Skills Trainer
A one day course. By the end of this training course candidate instructors will be aware of the skills required to deliver card based sessions to both children and adults in an off-road cycling environment such as a playground or sports area.

Trail Cycle Leader
A 2 day training course for those interested in leading groups on mountain bike activities as detailed below:-
Public highways, way-marked routes, rights-of-way on which cycles are permitted, identifiable routes, tracks and trails with obvious navigational features and with low to medium technical difficulty. The award covers normal summer conditions. These routes will be 90-95% rideable and take the group no more than 30 minutes walk by a reasonably fit person away from a shelter with communication, and to be no more than 600 metres in height. They will not involve cycling activity of more than one day’s length. » Find out more

Expedition Leader
A 2 day training course for existing TCLs or MBLs. An Expedition Leader can lead self-sufficient groups on multi-day trips which requires carrying additional equipment and planning and management of groups on such trips. Terrain and technical difficulty are determined by the scope of the Expedition Leader's level of award (TCL or MBL). » Find out more
